Loopring, Ethereum\'s first zk-rollup, closes decentralised exchange

Loopring, described as Ethereum\'s first zk-rollup project, has closed its decentralised exchange service, The Block reported. The project said it lacked a virtual machine, preventing composability and real payment use cases, which limited ecosystem growth. It also acknowledged its zkEVM architecture lagged newer solutions fully compatible with Ethereum smart contracts. Loopring said it will refund users directly and cover all transaction fees, and will later restrict Layer 2 withdrawals to team-controlled whitelisted addresses after an upgrade.

Zcash co-founder says Ethereum Foundation mood needs to improve

As senior figures continue to leave the Ethereum Foundation, Zcash co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson publicly weighed in on recent turmoil surrounding Ethereum. He acknowledged Ethereum’s strengths but said politics exists inside the foundation. Concerns have also been raised about funding for development, with differing views aired by former contributors and industry figures. Ben-Sasson said he was not attacking the foundation or predicting Ethereum’s end, and called for future structures to prioritize competence and technology.

Bitcoin quantum transition focuses on \'abandoned assets\' as Coinbase proposes three-step response

Coinbase has suggested a compromise for handling bitcoin left unmoved during a shift to quantum-resistant addresses, after estimating that as many as about 7 million BTC could be vulnerable to quantum attacks. An independent advisory report said adding quantum-resistant signatures is a solvable technical task, but the main issue is how to treat assets not transferred by a deadline. It outlined three measures, including throttling transfers from older addresses and phased retirement of legacy schemes.
