Korean game companies roll out Chuseok holiday events with login and mission rewards
Major South Korean game companies are rolling out Chuseok holiday events that combine login rewards with missions and event dungeons. Many promotions add experience boosts, hot-time periods, dedicated dungeons and exchange shops to support play and character growth during the holiday. Nexon, NC, Netmarble, Com2uS, Pearl Abyss, Neowiz, Mgame and Gravity announced events across dozens of titles, offering limited items, in-game currency, costumes and other rewards.

Mgame Q2 operating profit falls 9.4 percent to 2.44 billion won
Mgame reported second-quarter consolidated revenue of 21.26 billion won and operating profit of 2.44 billion won, it said in a filing on Thursday. Revenue rose 6.4 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit fell 9.4 percent and net profit dropped 56.7 percent to 717 million won. First-half revenue totalled 45.5 billion won. The company cited tax and financial asset valuation factors for the net profit decline.

Mgame to buy back 2 billion won of treasury shares and cancel all
Mgame will buy back 2 billion won ($) worth of its own shares and cancel all of them to support its share price and boost shareholder value. The company said the purchase period will run from May 15 to Aug. 14 and will be conducted through on-exchange purchases in the KOSDAQ market. It expects to acquire about 411,100 shares, or about 2.14 percent of total shares outstanding, based on the previous day’s closing price of 4,865 won.
