Uber aims to become data supplier for autonomous driving ecosystem - AV Labs
Uber is aiming to become a platform that supplies data to autonomous driving companies by fitting sensors to vehicles driven by its regular drivers, TechCrunch reported on May 2. Uber CTO Praveen Neppalli Naga said the plan extends the AV Labs programme announced in January. AV Labs currently uses a small number of sensor-equipped vehicles operated by Uber. Uber says its global driver base could enable data collection at a scale autonomous driving firms cannot build alone.

Humble Robotics unveils driverless Level 4 electric Class 8 \'Humble Hauler\'
Humble Robotics has unveiled the Humble Hauler, an electric autonomous freight platform that removes the driver’s seat entirely. The Class 8 platform targets closed or controlled logistics environments such as warehouses, rail yards and ports, focusing on repetitive hub-to-hub moves rather than long-haul highways. The modular design can be lengthened or shortened and supports multiple configurations. The company is running pilots with logistics and supply-chain firms and raised $24 million in seed funding led by Eclipse.

Uber considers buying control of Kakao Mobility?
Uber and Kakao Mobility both appeared to distance themselves from reports that Uber is weighing an acquisition of management control of Kakao Mobility. Uber was reported to have conveyed its intent to the major shareholder side and to be conducting due diligence in connection with a possible stake purchase. Kakao Mobility cited lack of knowledge, while a local Uber Taxi official said there was no official position and that it was being checked.
