OTT industry speeds monetisation using sports content beyond ads and into paid products

South Korea\'s OTT platforms are accelerating efforts to monetise sports content, including paid products, as major matches boost daily active users. Mobile Index data showed Coupang Play and Tving saw sharp spikes tied to football and KBO baseball. Coupang Play is selling a separate sports pass and linking it to ticket presales. Tving is using KBO to expand long-term users and grow subscription and advertising revenue.

Krafton Q2 operating profit up 67 percent to 410.9 billion won

Krafton said on Tuesday it posted second-quarter consolidated revenue of 1.29 trillion won and operating profit of 410.9 billion won. Revenue and operating profit jumped 94.9 percent and 67 percent from a year earlier, marking the company’s best-ever second quarter. First-half revenue rose to 2.66 trillion won and operating profit to 972.5 billion won. Growth was led by PC and console platforms, while mobile titles maintained steady momentum.
