LG Uplus showcases AI-based Wi-Fi technology at European telecoms and network exhibition

LG Uplus said on Oct. 16 it showcased artificial intelligence-based next-generation Wi-Fi technology at Europe’s largest telecommunications and network exhibition. The company took part in Network X 2026 in Vienna from Oct. 12 to 15, introducing its Wi-Fi 7 commercialisation results and AI-based network quality management technology. It also presented proof-of-concept results for Wi-Fi 8-based edge AI, with plans to advance the technology toward automatic fault diagnosis and recovery.

SKT wins most innovative 5G service award at Network X for AI-RAN technology

SK Telecom said it won the award for the most innovative 5G communications service at the Network X Awards in Vienna on Oct. 14 local time. The company received the prize for its autonomous vehicle movement technology using an AI-based radio access network, or AI-RAN. SKT said it developed and tested AI-RAN base stations and verified stable communications while processing AI services. It plans to apply the technology at domestic car plants in 2027.

UK to use waste heat from data centres to heat 750,000 homes

The British government is pushing a project to use waste heat from data centres and other sites and to upgrade ageing heat networks to provide low-carbon heating to more than 750,000 households. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will provide 90 million pounds to build new heat networks and improve existing ones. The largest project is in London, with a Thames-linked network and a plan to ship hot water by electric barge before pipes are completed.
