[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has registered as a financial service provider with New Zealand’s Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR).

According to a recent Cointelegraph report, the registration allows Bitget to expand foreign exchange conversion, domestic and international remittances, custody of client assets, and portfolio and fund management services in New Zealand.

Bitget has been expanding licences and registrations in various countries. In June 2025, it received approval in Georgia to operate a digital asset exchange and a custodial wallet provider. In Britain, it holds Financial Conduct Authority approval through its affiliate Archax. It is registered with Italy’s OAM, and it is listed as a digital asset service provider in Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania and the Czech Republic.

Bitget also announced a plan in January to establish its European headquarters in Vienna, Austria. It appointed Oliver Stauber, the former chief legal officer at Bitpanda and a former head of KuCoin EU, as Bitget EU chief executive and tasked him with MiCA expansion.
