IBM, University of Chicago complete verifiable quantum computation with 70 logical qubits
IBM and researchers at the University of Chicago said they completed a verifiable quantum computation using 70 logical qubits, a task difficult for classical computers. The team applied a new error-correction approach and finished the calculation in about 15 minutes. The work also offers a way to verify results, a long-standing hurdle in demonstrating quantum advantage. Researchers said the logical error rate fell to about one-tenth of the physical error rate.

LG Energy Solution points to commercial viability of sulfur-based batteries
LG Energy Solution said it developed a high-capacity battery using sulfur as a cathode material by applying all-solid-state battery technology. The company said the approach blocks polysulfide dissolution seen in liquid electrolytes, securing about 1,500 mAh/g capacity and stable cycle life. It said the performance was demonstrated in both coin cells and pouch-type cells. The work was conducted with a University of Chicago research team and published in Nature Communications.
