Nissan starts developing all-solid-state battery cheaper than China\'s, using sulfur-based materials to cut costs
Nissan is moving to secure price competitiveness for all-solid-state batteries, a key next-generation EV technology, by using sulfur-based materials instead of costly nickel and cobalt. The company is launching a three-year project with UK battery firm Gelion, Nissan Technical Centre Europe and the University of Oxford to develop cost-effective solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries. The project totals about 3.4 million pounds, with Gelion receiving 2.4 million pounds in UK government support.

Nvidia-backed U.S. AI firm Runway to set up European headquarters in London
U.S. AI company Runway will make London its European headquarters and invest more than $200 million in the UK artificial intelligence ecosystem by the end of 2028. CNBC reported that the company plans to expand its European business and research organisation from London. Runway recently raised $315 million in a Series E round that included General Atlantic, AMD Ventures and Nvidia, valuing it at $5.3 billion.

Humax signs partnership with UK BYD dealer
Humax is expanding its UK charging-infrastructure business with an integrated model that offers charging solutions at the vehicle-purchase stage. The company said on May 15 it signed a strategic partnership with Harmony Automotive, a UK official BYD dealer network. Under the collaboration, customers can select Humax’s MX7 home charger and installation service when contracting for a BYD vehicle, for both individual and corporate buyers. Humax aims to link rising BYD demand to home-charging demand.
