BlackRock urges 1 to 2 percent bitcoin allocation, reaffirms portfolio benefits despite 50 percent drop
An analysis says adding a small amount of bitcoin can improve the risk-adjusted performance of a traditional investment portfolio even after bitcoin fell about 50 percent from its peak. BlackRock compared a 60/40 stock-bond portfolio with portfolios that include 1 percent and 2 percent bitcoin using 10 years of rolling data through May 29, 2026. Returns and Sharpe ratios rose while volatility and maximum drawdowns changed only slightly, it found.

BlackRock Canada has launched two new exchange-traded funds, including one that allocates 3 percent to bitcoin, and both have begun trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The iShares Equity+Bitcoin ETF Portfolio allocates 97 percent to diversified equities and invests 3 percent in bitcoin through BlackRock Canada’s iShares Bitcoin ETF. The iShares Core MSCI All International Equity Index ETF invests outside Canada and the United States.

Money flowed out of BlackRock\'s spot bitcoin ETF IBIT, with $122 million withdrawn, ending a three-week streak of net inflows in the U.S. spot crypto ETF market. Total net outflows from U.S. spot crypto ETFs reached $265.37 million, with IBIT accounting for about half. Outflows also hit Fidelity\'s FBTC and Ark 21Shares\' ARKB. On-chain data showed 1,948.07 BTC moved to Coinbase Prime, roughly matching IBIT’s outflow.
