Toshiba says quantum-inspired computing algorithm boosts speed 100-fold

Toshiba has unveiled a quantum-inspired computing algorithm that simulates quantum calculations on classical computers, saying it improves speed and accuracy at the same time. The company said the algorithm can run up to 100 times faster than existing methods and achieve near-100 percent accuracy by using the “edge of chaos” concept. It cited a case where runtime fell from about 1.3 seconds to under 0.01 seconds.
