Review of U.S. CLARITY Act finds bitcoin bull case overstated
A sweeping rewrite of the U.S. crypto regulation bill known as the CLARITY Act limits its expected impact on bitcoin, an analysis said. Contributor Isaiah Austin (이사야 오스틴) said the latest version is hard to see as a bitcoin-focused bill. Provisions would protect self-custody rights, shield non-custodial software developers and expand banks’ ability to handle digital assets. But clauses to codify bitcoin’s commodity status and ban retail CBDCs were removed, the analysis said.

Verus-Ethereum bridge hacked again after two months, $7.54 million in assets stolen
The Verus-Ethereum bridge has been hacked for a second time in about two months, with $7.54 million worth of cryptocurrency stolen, blockchain security firm Blockaid said. It said the attacker exploited the same vulnerability used in the May breach and triggered unsecured payouts on the Ethereum side. CertiK also detected the hack and estimated losses at about $7.53 million, saying the funds were swapped into 3,916.1 ether and deposited into Tornado Cash.

JackXBT says use a dedicated iPhone instead of a hardware wallet; industry pushes back
Danny Sanders, chief commercial officer at Trezor, pushed back against blockchain investigator JackXBT’s recent criticism of hardware wallets. JackXBT wrote on Telegram that all hardware wallets are “complete trash” and advised using a separate iPhone dedicated to fund storage and transaction signing. Sanders said complaints about urgent software and firmware updates are understandable, but argued JackXBT generalised from experienced users handling large sums.
