Broadcasting Media Communications Committee releases 2024 broadcast assessment; KBS1, MBN top scores by platform
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communications Committee approved the 2024 broadcast assessment results for 371 stations operated by 153 broadcasters at a plenary meeting on July 22. The results will be reflected in broadcaster re-licensing and re-approval reviews. KBS1 recorded the highest score among national terrestrial TV channels, while MBN ranked top among comprehensive programming channel operators. The committee also approved the 2025 assessment basic plan and will disclose detailed results on its website.

LG Hellovision launches Trot Choice monthly package for 5,000 won
LG Hellovision said on Sunday it has launched a genre-focused monthly subscription product, Trot Choice, on its cable TV service Hello tv. The package allows unlimited viewing of popular trot content, including TV Chosun’s audition entertainment programmes Miss Trot and Mr Trot from season 1 to recent broadcasts. The price is 5,000 won a month, excluding value-added tax. The company will provide 5,000 won in TV coins to all new subscribers through this month.

Broadcast Media Communications Commission releases 2024 TV broadcaster audience share
The Broadcast Media Communications Commission said on Sunday it released the 2024 viewing share calculation results for 166 television broadcasters at its third plenary meeting of 2026. The calculation covered broadcasters operating 285 channels with annual viewing records. KBS posted the highest share among terrestrial broadcasters at 20.862 percent. TV Chosun led comprehensive programming and news channels at 7.441 percent. CJ ENM recorded 11.092 percent.
