Google to provide AI to U.S. Defense Department for any lawful government purpose

Google has signed a contract allowing the U.S. Defense Department to use its AI models for any lawful government purpose, with details classified. The deal gives the Pentagon broad access to commercial AI models and related infrastructure. An anonymous source said the sides agreed that domestic mass surveillance or autonomous weapons would require appropriate human oversight, but Google is said to lack contractual rights to control or refuse government use.
