[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Google on May 20 (local time) unveiled Gemini Spark, a personal agent that can move across a user’s digital environment and handle tasks on the user’s behalf, at its annual Google I/O developer conference.
Gemini Ultra is set to be offered next week to subscribers of Google AI Ultra, a $100-a-month plan.
The company said Gemini Spark is based on Google Cloud infrastructure and supports various Google products.
Because it runs in the cloud, users do not need to keep their laptops on. Users can send emails directly to Gemini Spark via a dedicated Gmail address. Gemini Spark interacts directly with the web through Chrome, and on mobile users can check the agent’s task progress in real time through the newly introduced Halo notifications system on Android.
Gemini Spark can also connect with various services through MCP. Google plans to expand the scope of integrations over the coming months.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai (순다 피차이) said, "We have been providing agents to developers and businesses, and we are focused on delivering these innovative agent capabilities safely and reliably to consumers so that anyone can use them conveniently."
Josh Woodward (조시 우드워드), vice president of the Google Labs Gemini app and AI Studio, said, "When you need to send a status email to your boss, Spark gathers information from emails, documents, spreadsheets and slides to draft it," and added, "Small business owners can monitor their inbox with Spark so they do not miss customer inquiries."
