Google's Gemini app has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users. TechCrunch reported on Monday that Google CEO Sundar Pichai (순다 피차이) said on social media platform X that the Gemini app has become one of Google's fastest-growing products. "The Gemini app is the 14th product at Google to surpass 1 billion monthly users," he said.

The figure is based on the standalone Gemini app and excludes users who used Gemini through other services such as Search, Workspace and Android.

Google has steadily applied Gemini across Search, Workspace, Android and the standalone app. In particular, its Search AI Mode has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users worldwide.

The Gemini app's growth pace is similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT. ChatGPT recorded 1 billion monthly active users in June.

Google is also continuing to roll out new models and features. Gemini 3.5 Flash, unveiled recently, is a model aimed at improving coding and autonomous AI agent tasks.

Google also disclosed how users are using Gemini. The company said 63 percent of Gemini users are speaking directly with an assistant through voice features. Gemini is currently generating more than 150 million images a day.
