Vitalik Buterin changes Ethereum roadmap priorities, raises focus on quantum resistance
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin (비탈릭 부테린) said he released a revised version of his 2023 Ethereum roadmap and raised the priority of quantum safety. He overlaid the earlier roadmap on the Ethereum Foundation’s latest layer-1 Strawmap to show items that remained and those whose priority changed. The Strawmap lays out upgrades across consensus, data and execution layers and sets five end goals, including a post-quantum L1. Buterin also proposed EIP-8288 in June 2026, and the foundation formed a post-quantum security team targeting 2029.

Ethereum Foundation releases \'Strawmap\' draft, seeks six-month upgrade cycle
Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake released a draft technical roadmap called the \'Strawmap\' proposed by the foundation\'s protocol team. The document, aimed at researchers and developers, lays out overall directions for Ethereum layer 1 protocol upgrades. It is a proposal for discussion rather than a final roadmap. The draft suggests a six-month upgrade cycle under a plan for about seven forks through 2029.
