But fabricated case law and incorrect legal reasoning generated by AI have repeatedly been found in court documents, making reliability checks a key challenge. A Canadian tribunal ordered a lawyer to pay costs after nonexistent precedents and faulty reasoning were found in Grok-produced material, while a U.S. law firm apologised for AI-generated errors in a filing.

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said ADA and XRP should be classified as commodities rather than securities. He said problems with how digital assets are classified helped stall progress on the Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate, criticising efforts to group many assets as commodities and place the Commodity Futures Trading Commission at the centre of regulation. He said lawmakers should first clarify which assets are commodities and which are digital securities, and urged mutual recognition across jurisdictions.
