Lawmakers raise discrimination claims in Naver-Toss POS dispute

Allegations were raised at a parliamentary audit that Naver unfairly excluded Toss Place during the integration of store point-of-sale systems. Rep. Song Eon-seok said Naver linked services with 15 POS firms but left out only Toss Place’s Toss POS. Toss Place CEO Choi Jae-ho said he had sought integration for two years without clear reasons. Fair Trade Commission Chairman Joo Byeong-ki said the agency should examine possible self-preferencing and unfair discrimination.

Naver unveils core technology behind AI Tab

Naver has unveiled key technologies used in its conversational AI search service AI Tab, which it launched on June 25. At a tech session in Seoul, it introduced a specialised lightweight model based on HyperCLOVA X, an operating framework called harness engineering, and Smart Lens-based multimodal technology. Executives said AI Tab must deliver conversational answers every time a user selects the tab, requiring high quality, speed, cost efficiency and stability at scale.

OpenSearch downloads hit 1.4 billion after joining Linux Foundation, emerges as enterprise AI platform

Open-source search platform OpenSearch has logged 1.4 billion downloads, nearly doubling in a little over two years since joining the Linux Foundation. Bianca Lewis, executive director of the OpenSearch Software Foundation, said the project receives contributions from more than 400 companies and attracts more than 1.5 million page visits a month. She said contributors, downloads and commits rose notably after the move, and urged weighing data sovereignty and business models when choosing platforms.
