Western Digital completes carbon-free energy transition at 5 manufacturing sites
Western Digital is pursuing an energy strategy aimed at sustainability as AI storage demand accelerates, it said on April 23, publishing its FY2025 sustainability report. It said it now runs five manufacturing sites on 100 percent carbon-free energy and raised renewable energy use across global manufacturing to 66 percent. It also reported lower emissions intensity in product use, new supply-chain targets, and progress on recycled materials and rare-earth recovery.

Financial Services Commission to inject 790 trillion won into climate finance to back green transition
Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eok-won (이억원) on Tuesday presented a draft roadmap to institutionalise ESG disclosures and announced plans to supply 790 trillion won in climate finance to support corporate green transition. The FSC will gather opinions on the draft until March 31 and aims to finalise it in April. ESG reporting will begin in phases for KOSPI-listed firms with consolidated assets of at least 30 trillion won, with Scope 3 emissions to be disclosed in principle from 2031.

SK Square wins CDP climate change response Leadership A rating
SK Square said on Monday it received the top “Leadership A” grade in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s 2025 climate change response assessment. The grade is awarded only to companies in the top 4 percent of about 22,000 participants and marks a two-notch rise from its previous B grade. SK Square said it strengthened environmental management through its board ESG committee, disclosed Scope 3 emissions with external verification, and linked internal carbon pricing to management decisions.
