Korea, Italy to step up cooperation on AI, quantum, robotics
South Korea will strengthen cooperation with Italy in advanced science and technology and ICT, including artificial intelligence, quantum and robotics. The Ministry of Science and ICT signed an MOU with Italy’s Ministry of Universities and Research in Rome on June 12 during President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit. The two sides plan joint research, researcher exchanges, policy sharing and joint use of research facilities. Cooperation in basic science and priorities for future collaboration were also discussed.

K-Moonshot project stumbles at start as AI scientist program director offers to resign
South Korea\'s K-Moonshot project, aimed at applying AI to science and technology to solve national challenges, faces an early setback after a mission program director offered to resign. The science ministry said the resignation came for personal reasons and is expected to be accepted after the deputy prime minister returns from an overseas trip. The ministry plans to proceed without recruiting a successor and has outlined governance and conflict-of-interest controls for program directors.

KISA begins testing OpenAI\'s GPT-5.5 Cyber as Mythos access nears
South Korea has begun testing an AI cybersecurity frontier model to set the government\'s response direction to AI security threats and apply results to industry. The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT has entered tests of OpenAI\'s \'GPT-5.5 Cyber\'. KISA is verifying whether the model can be used to identify and respond to threats and may expand use to software and infrastructure checks. KISA is also moving to secure access to Anthropic\'s Mythos model.
