Naver unveils \'Local Ground\' campaign in Busan to boost AI transformation for local businesses

Naver is rolling out an on-the-ground campaign called \'Local Ground\' to help users experience local businesses through artificial intelligence and to support AI transformation for regional commercial districts. The first programme runs in Busan from June 9 to June 13, with 104 small and medium-sized merchant shops taking part. Naver is supporting adoption of AI-based solutions and short-form content, and enabling foreigners to use map-to-payment services after passport-based verification.

Airwallex appoints Kwon Yoon-a to lead SME business in South Korea

Airwallex said on Tuesday it had appointed Kwon Yoon-a as head of its small and medium-sized enterprise business in South Korea. She will lead overall operations in the market, including building strategic partnerships with domestic financial institutions, strengthening communication with industry contacts and key media, and expanding support for local clients. Airwallex said it secured payment gateway and prepaid payment instrument licences in South Korea earlier this year through a strategic acquisition.

Broadcast media communications commission to ease home shopping rules, push six tasks on carriage fees and scheduling

South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission said on Thursday it received a plan to boost shared growth and vitality in the home shopping sector. It aims to ease regulatory burdens on the industry and improve the effectiveness of support for small and medium-sized enterprises. The commission discussed the plan at its 12th plenary meeting for 2026 and set out six tasks, including changes to product scheduling rules, a review of a dedicated data home shopping channel, stronger policy adjustment in carriage-fee negotiations, simplified reapproval checks and revisions to screen-ratio rules for data home shopping.
