KB Financial Group measured that it created 1.66 trillion won in social value in the first half of this year through areas of social responsibility such as inclusive finance and support for youth, small and medium-sized enterprises and local communities.
KB Financial Group said on Wednesday it created 1.66 trillion won in social value in the first half, including 834.0 billion won in the second quarter of 2026.
Social value performance is a figure that converts into monetary terms the positive impact of environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities in financial and non-financial areas on customers, shareholders and investors, and local communities.
KB Financial Group explained it is disclosing the results to measure changes each activity has brought to society rather than simple business input costs, and to focus support on areas with high social demand based on those measurements.
The first-half results reflected inclusive finance activities such as debt restructuring, credit counselling and easing interest-rate burdens for financially vulnerable groups. They also included support for victims of rental deposit scams and voice phishing, operation of financial counselling and psychological recovery programmes, and financial crime prevention education for rural areas and traditional markets.
In the youth sector, it pursued initiatives including asset-building support through "KB Youth Future Savings", job linkage programmes such as the "KB Good Job Job Fair", training AI talent, and projects supporting entrepreneurship and young people preparing for independent living.
For SMEs and self-employed business owners, it provided support for industrial safety improvements and AI and green transitions. Through "KB Good Food Truck", it offered refurbishment of ageing food trucks, management consulting and opportunities to participate in events, and also ran a programme linking companies with safety technology to SME worksites.
In local communities, it pursued expanding education and care infrastructure through "KB Small Library" and "Neighborhood Education and Care Centers", cultural projects linked with national and public art museums and museums, and establishing rural energy self-sufficient villages.
A KB Financial Group official said, "Measuring social value is a process of checking what changes have been created in society, not the input cost." The official added, "We will continue to practise finance that grows together with society."
