Korea Post Logistics Agency will begin a pilot of its Post Pick service from Sept. 14.

The agency said on Thursday it is introducing Post Pick to improve convenience for small and midsize exporting companies shipping international cargo and to provide competitive logistics services.

Post Pick is a service that, at the request of SME exporters needing international freight transport, compares market freight rates based on shipment information such as origin and destination, weight and volume, then provides suitable shipping conditions and quotes. It supports the entire international freight process by linking post office acceptance, customs brokerage, international transport and local delivery.

The agency will start the pilot operation from Sept. 14 ahead of the full rollout. During the pilot period, it will provide the service for international cargo weighing 45 kg or more to five countries, including the United States, Vietnam, India, Germany and the Netherlands.

Customers who want to use the service can request a quote online through the agency website's "Quote Inquiry" board. The agency checks the cargo information and then provides shipping conditions and quotes. It also offers customer consultation on how to use the service and shipping-related inquiries through its KakaoTalk channel.

Oh Ki-ho (오기호), chairman of Korea Post Logistics Agency, said, "We will build a new logistics service model that links Korea Post's logistics infrastructure with private-sector expertise and contribute to expanding overseas sales channels for SME exporters and strengthening export competitiveness."
