Engineering AI applications spread from antenna design to CAE database building
Use cases applying AI to manufacturing engineering, a field seen as hard to benefit from AI, were presented at a conference held by Dassault Systemes Korea on June 11. Samsung Electronics shared an antenna performance prediction case using machine-learning algorithms and said it cut repeated analysis runs and shortened development lead times by dozens of times. LG Electronics presented a method using AI agents to build an SPDM CAE database by extracting numeric data from PowerPoint reports.

LG Electronics executive says bias that LLMs cannot handle mechanical engineering is fading
Kim Yong-yeon, a research fellow at LG Electronics\' VS division, said the perception that large language models cannot properly handle mechanical engineering is collapsing. He said manufacturers are rapidly adopting agent AI and trust in AI answers has risen sharply. Kim said the essence of AI transformation is improving the quality of engineers\' decision-making through workflow redesign, not simply adopting technology. He said LG Electronics analyzed processes across product development and redesigned them to reduce repetitive tasks.

MODSIM and AI redefine engineering, speed revolution ahead
Dassault Systèmes\' SIMULIA CEO Michelle Ash (미쉘 애쉬) said MODSIM can cut a 40-hour design process to 4 hours, and adding AI could reduce it to seconds. Speaking at a Dassault Systèmes Korea event on June 11, she highlighted three changes: faster physics foundations through GPU-based solvers with Nvidia, MODSIM enabling simulation during design, and AI accelerating work further. She also outlined the company\'s 3D Universe vision based on virtual twins and virtual companions.
