U.S. Senate panel moves to bar Chinese EV sales; Tesla shifts from EVs to robots
The U.S. Senate Commerce Committee plans a vote on a bipartisan bill that would effectively ban Chinese automakers from selling passenger EVs in the United States and further restrict entry into the small-car market. Tesla is removing the Model S and Model X assembly line at its Fremont plant and converting the space for humanoid robot Optimus production. Tesla will shift its supervised FSD option in South Korea from a lump-sum payment to a monthly subscription from Aug. 10.

Kakao Mobility, Renault Korea to jointly develop ADAS maps
Kakao Mobility said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Renault Korea to cooperate on vehicle software technology for a “next-generation vehicle experience.” The partners will apply Kakao Mobility’s high-precision maps, software technology and in-vehicle service expertise to Renault Korea’s vehicle platform. They will jointly develop and verify map data and software for ADAS and advance IVI by linking services such as navigation, parking and charging.

Whistle PickDeal sees steady demand for budget sedans even during SUV peak season
Demand remains steady for used sedans priced below 10 million won, which have lower running costs than SUVs, even during the summer vacation season, Whistle\'s used-car service PickDeal said. Based on actual transaction data linked to the transport ministry and AI price analysis, PickDeal forecast that July prices for three models would slip slightly from June. It projected declines for Hyundai\'s Grandeur HG, Avante AD and Renault Korea\'s SM6.
