IBM shrinks z17 mainframe to lower barrier to AI infrastructure
IBM has unveiled a smaller z17 mainframe and a LinuxONE 5 server lineup targeting on-premise enterprise AI demand. The products include single-frame and rack-mounted z17 systems, plus LinuxONE Rockhopper 5 and LinuxONE 5 Express. IBM said the z17 now fits a standard 19-inch rack. It said the new systems support real-time AI inference, fraud detection and automated decision-making without moving data to the cloud, alongside updated software and security features.

Daol TS secures Dell DPC deployment certification to expand private cloud business
South Korean IT infrastructure and solutions distributor Daol TS said it has obtained a technical qualification to deploy Dell Private Cloud with DAP (DPC) and will accelerate its push into the private cloud market. The company said DPC is built on Dell PowerEdge servers and storage and is suited to mid-sized and large companies facing limits with existing HCI as AI and data workloads grow. It also said DAP can cut deployment steps by up to 90 percent.

Saltware named Red Hat premier partner
AI cloud services company Saltware said on March 17 it has been selected as a Red Hat premier partner. Red Hat partners provide system building and operations services for corporate and public-sector customers based on Red Hat technologies. Premier partner is Red Hat’s top-tier status for companies with high technical capabilities and delivery systems. Saltware said it earned the rating about three years after starting cooperation with Red Hat.
