ECB urgently calls euro zone banks to discuss \'Mythos shock\'

The European Central Bank has urgently convened euro zone banks to review cyber risks triggered by Anthropic\'s advanced AI model Claude Mythos. A meeting on May 26 will focus on how quickly banks apply security patches and how they respond to AI-driven attacks. ECB supervisory board vice chair Frank Elderson said attackers can now reverse-engineer patch contents within 30 minutes, requiring faster deployment and operations.

Cloudflare discusses power and limits of Anthropic Mythos

Cloud and security company Cloudflare disclosed results from deploying Anthropic\'s Mythos preview on its infrastructure. As a participant in Anthropic\'s Project Glasswing, it applied Mythos to more than 50 internal repositories and shared what it found and the limits it encountered. Cloudflare highlighted strengths in building attack chains and generating proof of exploitability, and said patch speed after vulnerability disclosure can be risky if regression testing is skipped.

Cloudflare says Mithos is on another level, hacking that took months now takes just minutes

Cloudflare said tests of Anthropic’s security-focused AI model Mithos Preview on its code repositories significantly improved vulnerability detection and attack code generation. The tests were conducted as part of the AI-driven cyber defence effort Project Glasswing, which includes Anthropic, AWS, Google, Microsoft and CrowdStrike. Cloudflare said false positives fell and researchers’ workload eased, but guardrails sometimes blocked legitimate work and effective use required specialised pipelines and agents. It also warned AI is compressing time from discovery to exploitation from months to minutes.
