Tesla pursues 100 GW U.S. solar manufacturing, seeks to buy $2.9 billion of China equipment
Tesla is moving to build 100 gigawatts of solar manufacturing capacity in the United States, making a large investment push. Utilize coalition launches to cut U.S. power bills by boosting grid use
A new industry coalition, Utilize, has launched with the goal of cutting electricity rates by improving low utilisation of the U.S. power grid. The coalition includes Tesla and Google as well as Carrier, Sparkfund, SPAN, Verrus and Renew Home. It argues the grid is built for extreme peaks but remains underused most of the time, leaving consumers paying higher kilowatt-hour rates than necessary. It estimates tens of billions of dollars in potential savings.
