Hanwha Q Cells wins safety certification for three tandem mass-production labs
Three laboratories at Hanwha Q Cells\' Renewable Energy Research Center have received new certification as excellent safety management labs. Hanwha Q Cells said on Oct. 26 that its process development, materials development and analysis labs at the Pangyo R&D Center obtained the certification, and all labs participating for the first time passed. The programme, run by the Ministry of Science and ICT, evaluates safety systems, activities and researchers’ safety awareness.

Solar cell domestic production tax credit pushed; Hanwha Solutions says no effect without direct pay
South Korea\'s solar industry is urging the government to add direct pay to a planned domestic production tax credit, saying loss-making companies cannot benefit without a refund mechanism. Hanwha Solutions said the domestic solar cell manufacturing base is disappearing, with local cell market share falling sharply since 2021. The government plan caps credits and does not include direct pay or transferability. The company said direct pay is needed due to high upfront and operating costs at cell plants.

South Korea to launch seven SEED projects to foster SMRs, quantum and space
South Korea will 추진 a “seven SEED projects” initiative to nurture future growth engines including small modular reactors, nuclear fusion, quantum and space and aviation, following its three mega projects in semiconductors, physical AI and AI data centres. The plan targets preemptive 확보 of advanced technologies over the next 10 to 20 years, with goals around 2030 to 2035. It groups projects into clean energy, next-generation frontier and advanced supply chains, and includes 10 trillion won for supply-chain R&D by 2030.
