Anthropic has surpassed OpenAI for the first time in the share of companies paying for its service, according to Ramp\'s AI Index cited by TechCrunch. Ramp data showed 34.4 percent of paying firms used Anthropic, compared with 32.3 percent for OpenAI. The survey drew on spending data from Ramp customers and included more than 50,000 companies. Ramp economist Ara Karajian said Anthropic led in high-adoption sectors and the gap has narrowed in recent months.

An open-source tool called Deepclaude has emerged that keeps the autonomous coding-agent experience of Claude Code while sharply reducing model usage costs. Developers can retain the same interface and workflow and switch only the underlying model to alternatives such as DeepSeek V4 Pro or OpenRouter. The tool supports key developer functions, though it does not fully match the original environment. It also enables real-time backend switching during a session and highlights large pricing gaps between providers.
