Mythos returns as agentic AI drives security operations center expansion
The U.S. government has lifted export controls on Anthropic’s top AI models, Claude Fable5 and Mythos5, raising expectations of renewed competition among companies seeking to deploy AI models in cyber security. OpenAI has also made limited releases of three GPT-5.6 models, including a top model focused on cyber security. Companies are moving to apply agentic AI to security operations centers, while firms and institutions in and outside South Korea outline new security initiatives and strategies.

Microsoft said on July 2 it will set up a dedicated organisation, Microsoft Frontier Co, to support corporate AI adoption and invest $2.5 billion. The unit will be staffed by 6,000 employees deployed directly to customer sites, including existing field engineers, technical consultants, support staff and industry sales. AWS announced a $1 billion FDE organisation, while OpenAI and Anthropic also formed teams. Google is hiring hundreds of FDEs.

Anthropic considers developing its own AI chip, discusses partnership with Samsung Electronics
Anthropic has started early-stage work to develop its own AI chip and is discussing a manufacturing partnership with Samsung Electronics, The Information reported on Wednesday, citing three people familiar with the matter. Two sources said Anthropic is considering Samsung’s 2-nanometre manufacturing process and advanced packaging facilities. The company is still defining the chip’s role, performance targets and deployment. It has begun hiring and recently recruited Clive Chan, an early member of OpenAI’s in-house chip team.
