SBI adds Japanese short-term government bonds to reserves for yen stablecoin JPYSC

SBI Group has started managing part of the collateral for yen-pegged stablecoin JPYSC in short-term Japanese government bonds. SBI Shinsei Trust Bank and SBI VC Trade said they began the operation on Sept. 7, covering 1 billion yen of trust assets. The move uses provisions of Japan’s revised Payment Services Act, effective June 2026, which allows up to 50 percent of trust-type stablecoin reserves to be held in short-term government bonds or time deposits.

Mastercard to sponsor XRP Ledger hackathon in October in latest Ripple collaboration

Mastercard will join as a sponsor of an XRP Ledger (XRPL) hackathon to be held in New York in October, extending a year-long expansion of cooperation with Ripple. The 36-hour event will run on Oct. 24 to 25 and is scheduled just ahead of Ripple’s annual Swell conference. The hackathon will feature four tracks, including protocol innovation and agentic finance, and will also allow existing teams to join by adding XRPL features.

DB Financial Investment joins Ethereum Korea One as title sponsor

DB Financial Investment will take part as title sponsor of the Ethereum conference \"Ethereum Korea One: Genesis\" to be held in Seoul in September. The event will discuss the status of token securities business initiatives by domestic and overseas financial institutions ahead of the institutionalisation of token securities in South Korea, and ways to use Ethereum-based on-chain infrastructure. The Ethereum Korea Consortium said the conference will run on Sept. 28 to 29.
