PIPC to begin pilot of employment, education \'MyData\' brokerage infrastructure
South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission will build brokerage infrastructure to implement the MyData right to request third-party transfers of personal data in the employment and education sectors. The commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency said they began a 2026 pilot support project on July 14. The pilot will test identification and transfer methods and check the full transfer process, including certification and data standardisation. A Koscom-led consortium will run the project.

Personal data protection master plan announced to support trust-based AI innovation
South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission on Thursday announced a third basic master plan for personal data protection for 2027 to 2029 as a joint agenda item with relevant ministries at an economic ministers\' meeting. The plan sets out a vision of a trusted data environment and an AI society. It includes four strategies and 12 tasks, including redesigning rules for AI, strengthening prevention-focused protections, upgrading policy and expanding remedies and rights safeguards.

PIPC pushes to expand MyData services, strengthen links in healthcare and energy
South Korea\'s Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency held a field meeting to share progress on the MyData system and discuss ways to use personal data safely. The commission outlined the status of MyData operations across sectors and its policy direction. It also introduced the OnMyData platform, which lets users view, download or delete their personal information, and gathered views on ways to activate the system and address on-site difficulties.
