Hitachi Vantara\'s U.S. Norman manufacturing site named WEF Lighthouse factory
HS Hyosung Information Systems said Hitachi Vantara\'s storage manufacturing facility in Norman, Oklahoma, has been selected as a World Economic Forum Lighthouse factory. Lighthouse factories are manufacturing sites that deliver innovative results in productivity, supply chain resilience and sustainability using technologies such as AI and robotics. HS Hyosung said the site runs an end-to-end digital manufacturing and supply chain hub and cut lead time by 77 percent and inventory by 50 percent by applying agentic AI.

Bitcoin bullish bets return; retaking $85,000 hinges on ETFs
Bitcoin’s funding rate has turned positive, reviving short-term bullish positioning, while traders remain cautious. Perpetual futures annualised funding briefly rose to 6 percent, entering a neutral-to-bullish range for the first time in about a month. Spot U.S.-listed bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows on May 8 and 9, adding pressure. Options indicators stayed defensive. Hashrate has rebounded in May, easing concerns of miners leaving the network for AI.

IREN to acquire open-source cloud infrastructure firm Mirantis
Neo-cloud company IREN will acquire open-source cloud infrastructure specialist Mirantis, The Register reported on Thursday. Mirantis is known for OpenStack distributions, hyperconverged appliances and Kubernetes tools, and launched an AI infrastructure deployment automation platform, k0rdent AI, in 2025. Mirantis will continue as an independent business after the deal and support IREN cloud deployments. IREN began as Iris Energy in 2018, moved into generative AI infrastructure in 2023 and now runs six data centres.
