Amazon to directly build 12 small nuclear reactors in U.S. Indiana to secure power for AI
Amazon will fund development of a 960-megawatt small modular reactor power plant planned in Indiana and will be the first buyer of the electricity it produces, as it seeks stable power for AI data centres. The project will be built at a closed coal plant site south of Terre Haute, with American Electric Power operating the plant and X-energy supplying 12 Xe-100 reactors. Progress hinges on X-energy’s first commercial project in Texas.

China\'s battery industry is facing narrowing export routes as Beijing withdraws tax support for mainstream lithium-ion batteries and shifts focus to next-generation technologies, while the European Union moves to curb exports of Chinese hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars. Analysts say Korean battery makers with production bases in Europe may get a chance to narrow the price gap. The EU also plans tougher origin requirements for subsidies, raising pressure on Korean firms to localise sourcing.

Lido adds direct Ethereum staking across four layer2 networks
Liquid staking protocol Lido added a feature to its staking interface that lets users stake Ethereum on four layer2 networks: Arbitrum, Base, Linea and Optimism. Users receive wstETH on the network they already use without moving assets to Ethereum mainnet and back. The service is provided based on Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol. Deposited ETH is swapped via a dedicated liquidity pool and is ultimately staked on Ethereum mainnet.
