Resume uploads jump 49 percent on first Monday after holidays, JobKorea survey shows

JobKorea said job-search activity that slowed during holiday breaks repeatedly surged on the first Monday after the holidays, based on its analysis of resume uploads and job applications over the past two years. The sharpest rise came after the 2024 Chuseok holiday. Job applications also peaked on the first Monday after each of the past four holidays. A separate survey found 44.3 percent of office workers planned to prepare for a job change during Chuseok.

President Lee holds 100-minute news conference, addresses issues from U.S. investment talks to troop deployment and housing

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) held a news conference on Thursday, sharing his reflections from the past 15 months and his stance on pending issues. He said the government is renegotiating parts of U.S. investment talks that are difficult to accept and described the matter as complex. Lee said decisions on U.S. semiconductor investment will consider corporate judgment and national strategy. He also addressed troop deployment, real estate reform and special counsel powers.

Toss completes blockchain public payment infrastructure PoC with Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp

Toss has completed a proof of concept with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation for a blockchain-based public payment infrastructure. The test linked an existing public payment system with blockchain and implemented a full flow from payment to merchant settlement in a separate local gift certificate test environment. The project used Ethereum layer2 Optimism and applied a privacy solution to reduce data exposure risks. Toss also said it will subsidise fees for some online merchants during Chuseok.
