JobKorea, an AI and data-based HR tech platform operated by Worksphere, said on Sept. 21 that its analysis of resume uploads and job applications around major holidays over the past two years shows a recurring pattern. Job-search activity that slowed during holiday periods rose sharply on the first Monday after the break.

The company said the steepest increase during the review period followed the 2024 Chuseok holiday. Resume uploads on Sept. 23, the first Monday after the break, more than doubled the average weekday level that year. Compared with the daily average during the holiday period, the figure was about 3.7 times higher.

It said the trend continued in later holidays. Resume uploads on Feb. 3, 2025, the first Monday after the Lunar New Year holiday, were 46 percent higher than that year’s weekday average. The figure rose 20 percent on Oct. 13, 2025, after Chuseok, and 29 percent on Feb. 23, 2026, after the Lunar New Year holiday, JobKorea said.

It added that job applications also peaked on the first Monday after the holiday in each of the past four major holidays, making it the highest day in the four weeks around each holiday.

The trend of office workers using holiday breaks to prepare for a job change was also seen in a recent survey. In a JobKorea survey of 1,158 office workers on plans to prepare for a job change during the Chuseok holiday, 44.3 percent said they planned to prepare during the break.

A JobKorea official said holiday breaks are a suitable time to step away from busy routines, review one’s career and plan a job-change strategy. The official said the company would continue strengthening differentiated services so job seekers can successfully prepare for the career changes they want, in line with the second half’s open recruitment and experienced-hire recruiting that pick up after the holidays.
