2026 Korea Game Awards finalist list unveiled with 12 titles including Crimson Desert, Aion2
Twelve games have been named finalists for the main awards at the 2026 Korea Game Awards, including Pearl Abyss\' Crimson Desert and NC\'s Aion2, the Korea Game Industry Association said. The list also includes three titles developed by Netmarble affiliates. Finalists were chosen from games made and released in South Korea between Oct. 3 last year and Oct. 12 this year. Online voting runs through 5 p.m. on Nov. 16. The awards ceremony will be held on Nov. 18 in Busan.

Netmarble\'s \'Magu Magu 2026\' set for March launch
Netmarble on Jan. 30 released a developer note for its baseball game \'Magu Magu 2025\' and previewed a \'2026 season open\' update in March. Producer Kim Hyun-chan said the update would be more than a simple year change and would mark the start of a new five years for the game. He said the company would improve issues built up over the past five years and later disclose details through its official forum and community. Netmarble will also offer coupon rewards and run in-game events.

Big-name IP fuels flood of idle RPGs as value-for-money formula draws attention
South Korea\'s mobile game market has shifted from big-budget MMORPGs to idle RPGs built on established intellectual property, with major publishers planning new launches in 2026. Netmarble, Mgame and Com2uS are preparing titles based on Stone Age, GwiHon and Destiny Child, while Nexon is expected to tap The Kingdom of the Winds. Companies are drawn by shorter development cycles, lower costs and strong early user inflows from known IP, but the market may face sharper competition and fatigue if games lack differentiation.
