Moving, divorce and high rates fuel U.S. self-storage industry boom
Self-storage in the United States, where people store surplus belongings, has grown into a giant industry with annual revenue topping $40 billion. An analysis said the United States accounts for about 90 percent of global self-storage capacity and has more facilities than the combined U.S. store counts of major chains including Starbucks and McDonald’s. Demand has been driven by “four Ds” such as death, moving and divorce, as well as remote work and higher mortgage rates.

CoreWeave says data center backlash does not translate into weaker AI demand, no drop in orders
CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator said AI companies\' demand for infrastructure is not weakening despite community backlash and tougher regulation around data center construction. He said there had been no decline in orders and argued that even if regulations target data centers, they would only shift where infrastructure is built rather than reduce demand. Opposition to large projects is growing across the United States, and New York has signed a statewide construction moratorium for large data centers.

Trump says AI could be bigger than the internet, highlights datacentre expansion to compete with China
U.S. President Donald Trump said AI could become a bigger industry than the internet and that regulation should not choke growth as the United States competes with China. Speaking at a White House event with crypto industry figures and financial regulators, he also backed expanding AI infrastructure, including datacentres. Trump said companies should build power plants for datacentres rather than rely on ageing grids. Opposition is rising over power bills, water use and environmental impact, prompting protests and tougher state action.
