Google launches \'Nano Banana2 Lite\' at half the price, 2.7 times faster

Google has launched an image-generation model called Nano Banana2 Lite, targeting demand for lower cost and faster processing. The model can generate a 1K-resolution image for about $0.034 and is known to cost about half as much as Nano Banana2 at the same resolution while running 2.7 times faster. Officially named Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, it is positioned as an entry-level replacement for the existing Nano Banana.

XRP Ledger payment volume plunges 95 percent, raising worries over slower network demand

XRP Ledger payment volume fell to near zero over the past 24 hours, raising concerns about weakening network demand and usage. U.Today reported that the amount of XRP moved between accounts dropped from more than 1.3 billion XRP earlier this month to 40.5 million XRP on July 12. The metric reflects actual value transferred on the network rather than speculative exchange trading. The report noted payment volume can swing sharply due to a few large transfers and may rebound quickly.

KAIST develops structure to ease electrical bottleneck in 2D semiconductors

A South Korean research team has developed a structure that could ease an “electrical bottleneck” that reduces performance and power efficiency in next-generation semiconductors. KAIST said its team built a continuous semimetal and semiconductor structure within a single thin film of platinum diselenide and created an analysis platform to directly observe current flow. The team visualized nanoscale charge movement with atomic force microscopy and verified operation by applying an electric field.
