OpenAI launches new flagship model GPT-5.6 Sol with midrange pricing, top-tier performance

OpenAI has released its new flagship AI model, GPT-5.6 Sol, to the public and revamped its naming system to Sol, Terra and Luna based on performance tiers. OpenRouter said Chinese models have surpassed U.S. models in token consumption so far this year.
