[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Xiaomi's MiMo AI team has released the terminal-based AI coding tool "MiMo Code V0.1.0" as open source, VentureBeat reported on June 11 (local time).

Xiaomi said MiMo Code showed capabilities that surpass Anthropic's Claude Code on key agentic coding benchmarks. It showed particular strength in multi-step tasks of more than 200 stages.

Xiaomi explained that it developed MiMo Code after forking the open-source agent OpenCode and adding its own memory architecture and workflow mode.

A core feature of MiMo Code is its memory system across sessions. Existing AI coding agents lose early decisions and task status as work becomes longer and the context window fills up.

MiMo Code addresses this problem through a separate "checkpoint writing" sub-agent. While the main agent focuses on coding, the sub-agent records decisions and progress in real time and, when the context window reaches its limit, restores the environment based on those records so the workflow is not lost.
