Kakao adds \'Local News\' tab to KakaoTalk in North America for Korean users
Kakao has added a 생활정보 service for local Korean users on KakaoTalk in North America by introducing a \'Local News\' feature on the app’s third tab. Users can view region-specific Korean community businesses, notices from overseas diplomatic missions and information on open chat rooms run by local users without installing another app. The company also signed an MOU with South Korea’s foreign ministry to deliver safety and consular notices.

Korea OTT Forum, journalism society to hold seminar on future of local broadcasting in AI, OTT era
The Korea OTT Forum and a research group under the Korean Association for Journalism and Communication Studies will hold a special seminar on Sept. 11 at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju, they said on Saturday. Held during the 2026 ACE Fair and hosted by Gwangju MBC, the seminar will discuss response strategies and policy support for local broadcasters facing challenges from OTT, global platforms and generative AI.

iOS 27 to revamp Siri with contextual answers from texts and emails
Apple has improved Siri’s artificial intelligence features in the first beta of iOS 27. Business Insider reported the new Siri can index texts, emails, notes and calendar events to answer even vague questions. Apple calls it Siri AI and it can retrieve information for everyday tasks and better explain real-world scenes in photos. A dedicated Siri app was added, though limits remain in understanding some accents and answering activity questions.
