Polish crypto exchange Kanga secures MiCA licence in Latvia
Polish crypto exchange Kanga has secured a Class 3 MiCA licence in Latvia, enabling it to provide services across the European Union. Cointelegraph reported that operator SIA Alpharoot received approval from the Latvian central bank’s supervisory committee. The licence was granted on June 18. Kanga began a pre-authorisation process in Latvia in November 2025 after reviewing multiple jurisdictions.

Poland has failed to pass legislation implementing the EU’s MiCA crypto framework after parliament could not override a presidential veto, leaving it the last EU member without domestic adoption. The dispute centres on a crypto assets market law vetoed twice by President Karol Nawrocki, who cited burdens on small firms. Industry groups criticise the bill as overly expansive and say it gives sweeping powers to the KNF regulator. Some companies are already considering or pursuing moves abroad.

NYT points to Adam Back as possible Satoshi Nakamoto after year-long investigation
The New York Times has reported, in an investigative story, that Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto could be British cryptographer and Blockstream CEO Adam Back, The Block reported on April 8. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist John Carreyrou analysed old internet posts, court records and cached emails. He narrowed early mailing list users to a single person, citing writing habits. Back has consistently denied being Satoshi, and did so in an HBO documentary.
