The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) added 15 crypto-asset service providers to the MiCA register, taking the total number of registered entities to 309.

A recent Cointelegraph report said the update includes BNY SA/NV, BNY Mellon's Belgian subsidiary, along with four banks and digital asset platforms.

The update is the third post-deadline update since the July 1 transition deadline. MiCA is a framework that applies EU-wide unified rules to crypto-asset service providers.

New registrants include BNY SA/NV and three German banks. In Germany, Spar und Kreditbank Rheinstetten, VR-Bank Augsburg-Ostallgaeu and Raiffeisenbank Falkenstein-Woerth were registered. BitPay, Coinify and Bliq were also added.

By country, Germany and Denmark had the most additions, with 3 each. Bulgaria and Latvia had 2 each, and Belgium, Cyprus, Liechtenstein and the Netherlands had 1 each.

MiCA registrations continue to rise, but concerns are also emerging about the cost burden. Giovanni Cunti (조반니 쿤티), chief executive of Gate Europe, said some licensed firms may struggle over the long term to afford the resources needed for regulatory compliance.
