Germany\'s Gicon completes world\'s tallest 365-metre wind turbine

A 365-metre wind turbine billed as the world\'s tallest has been built in Germany, using high-altitude winds to increase power generation. German engineering company Gicon said the turbine in Schipkau, Brandenburg, has a 300-metre hub height and is Germany\'s second-tallest structure. The pilot unit is rated at 3.8 MW, with expected annual generation of about 18 million kWh, enough for 6,000 households. Official operation is planned for November.

MSIT to hold quantum-resistant cryptography transition competition and hackathon

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency will hold the first quantum-resistant cryptography (PQC) transition competition and hackathon and begin recruiting participants from Oct. 1. The event aims to find solutions to issues that may arise in industrial PQC transitions and build technical capacity to convert real systems. It will include an idea competition and a hands-on hackathon in a virtual environment.

OpenAI\'s Astra solves 10 math problems unsolved for more than a decade

OpenAI’s unreleased internal model Astra has produced new results on 10 problems in mathematics and theoretical computer science that had remained unsolved for at least a decade, and released machine-verifiable proofs. OpenAI posted a 249-page manuscript, model reasoning traces and Lean 4 proof certificates on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 licence. Some researchers called the results significant, but the work has not been peer reviewed and mathematicians still need to confirm the claims’ meaning and alignment with the original open problems.
