KT joins 5G-LTE integrated plans with QoS option across all tiers
KT will launch new integrated 5G and LTE mobile plans on July 1, folding its previously split pricing structure into a single system. The company said it simplified its lineup to 18 plans under two lines, Choice and Basic, and applied a QoS data option across all tiers. Age-based benefits will be applied automatically when customers meet eligibility. New sign-ups for 105 existing 5G and LTE plans will stop, while current subscribers can keep their plans.

5G-LTE integrated plans launch, attention on easing mobile bills
South Korea’s mobile carriers are rolling out integrated plans that remove the distinction between 5G and LTE, charging by data volume and speed and applying data-safety options by default. LG Uplus launched the first plans on June 1 and SK Telecom plans to follow on July 2, while KT is preparing its own launch. The changes expand default QoS to low-priced plans, with the ministry estimating annual savings of 322.1 billion won.

SK Telecom will roll out new mobile plans that unify its 5G and LTE rate structures and apply a free data service that continues after a user’s basic data is exhausted. From July 1, the company will apply the service to 107 LTE plans that previously did not include it, allowing continued use at up to 400 kbps. SKT will also revamp bundled products and streamline age- and plan-based benefits.
