Sony, TSMC to set up $4.69 billion image sensor joint venture in Japan
Sony Group and Taiwan\'s TSMC will set up a $4.69 billion joint venture in Koshi, Kumamoto prefecture, to produce next-generation smartphone image sensors. The partners signed a binding final agreement to establish Advanced Vision Semiconductor Manufacturing. Sony will control management through its chip unit Sony Semiconductor Solutions. Total investment is 747 billion yen, with TSMC funding to be deployed in stages. The venture also depends on sufficient support from the Japanese government.

RSUPPORT to offer free remote solutions to firms, institutions hit by Kumamoto earthquake
Remote solutions company RSUPPORT said on Tuesday it will provide its key remote solutions free of charge to support recovery in areas hit by the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake. The support targets companies, local governments and organisations in affected areas, which can immediately use three remote solutions depending on disaster conditions and work needs. RSUPPORT said it plans to simplify application procedures and strengthen initial setup and usage guidance.
