KOSPI, Kosdaq surge triggers buy-side sidecar in both markets
South Korea’s stock markets surged on March 5, triggering buy-side sidecar curbs in both the KOSPI and Kosdaq markets. The Korea Exchange temporarily halted the effectiveness of program buy orders for 5 minutes from 9:06:02 a.m. as the KOSPI200 futures index jumped 10.84 percent. At the same time, Kosdaq150 futures and the Kosdaq150 index rose more than 10 percent. A day earlier, sell-side sidecars were triggered in both markets after sharp falls.
