South Korea\'s Kosdaq rebounded more than 5 percent a day after falling more than 7 percent, triggering a buy-sidecar. The Korea Exchange said programme buy orders were suspended for 5 minutes after sharp gains in Kosdaq 150 futures and the Kosdaq 150 index. The Kosdaq recovered the 800 level. The KOSPI also rose more than 4 percent. Volatility remained elevated after circuit breakers had been triggered in both markets the previous day.

A selling sidecar was triggered on South Korea\'s Kosdaq market after a sharp fall in Kosdaq 150 futures and the spot index. The Korea Exchange said program sell orders were suspended for 5 minutes from 9:12:23 a.m. on Oct. 15. Kosdaq 150 futures fell 6.25 percent and the spot index dropped 6.52 percent. A selling sidecar was also triggered earlier on the main market.

Kosdaq surges nearly 7 percent to top 850; KOSPI also rises

South Korea\'s Kosdaq index surged nearly 7 percent on Aug. 10 to close above the 850 level, triggering a buy-sidecar halt early in the session. The KOSPI also rose, ending near 6,300 as individuals and institutions offset heavy net selling by foreigners. Large-cap shares were mixed, with gains in Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor. The won weakened, with the dollar rising to 1,419.30 won.
